One voice

One voice

This is a story I wrote for my daughter, to consider how one person, one decision can change the world.

I wrote this story back in 2020 when we were working on newave as a startup.
Tiffany had stated we should never use petroleum-based plastic as a packaging solution, and I think the concept and story is more relevant than ever.

One voice is not much
Could appear out of touch
and lacking in volume and force

yet without such a voice
there may not be choice
in altering histories course

if the world is to change
why would it be strange
that one girl helps deliver a dream

while others do wait
some are stuck in debate
one girl with one voice it may seem

for the world where we live
is not like a sieve
that excludes the plastic and waste

in our oceans they gather
it really does matter
to reduce the build up with haste

production is growing
and most without knowing
contribute each day to the problem

yet why is our youth
the burden of proof
where it rests upon them to solve them

and if we don’t listen
our oceans will glisten
with plastic and other false jewels

our oceans are dying
we’re not really trying
have we the courage and tools?

if there’s a chance
you need just a glance
our children are calling for change

support a new legacy
not shareholder supremacy
executives may think it is strange

that we look for solutions
not add to pollution
supporting science not fads

for it’s those who stand tall
and willing to fall
creating changes to which we are glad

stock markets adjust
and shareholders trust
we don’t care of the oceans troubles

yet if we demand
to make changes at hand
a circular economy doubles

We have a conscious choice, to do better, to be better and to save the planet.

Love yourself, love your planet.
