What is in a name, what does it mean
more than just a Trade Mark?
For us, it was something that had to be significant.
It needed to be something that represented what we stood for and what we wanted people to consider.
The name newave was not chosen by chance, it took some time.
In breaking down the name newave into “new” and “wave”,
you can see why we chose it.
Two parts – many emotions
New is for Newcastle, the place we live and love.
When growing up, Hugh only saw the beach once a year.
Arriving at our parents’ friend’s house each December to
house-sit whilst they travelled was always the start of a
wonderful adventure and every day at the beach.
Many years later in 2017, after three years as a sole parent a change was needed, and Newcastle again presented an opportunity.
Co-Founders Hugh and Tiffany moved to Newcastle,
taking some financial pressure away and allowing Tiffany the opportunity
to grow up in a city that offered beaches, an exciting culture and personal growth.
It was the best decision we made.
New is also for dissimilar, a new start and a point of difference.
newave was always to be different.
A new packaging idea with no petroleum.
Different to all other tubes and tubs, made from petroleum-based plastics.
We wanted to be unlike others; the environment needed innovators to push boundaries, present solutions and provide choice.
newave is a new start, we present empowered choice,
and we know research is moving quickly for even better possibilities.
New is to become fresh, for a cleaner and safer environment.
newave lip-balms are natural
(no petroleum base – for examples of petroleum look at products that include things such petrolatum, mineral oil, paraffin oil).
If they don’t say “no petroleum” look further at their ingredients.
Our soon to be released body lotion and hand cream
also contain no petroleum-based ingredients.
Finally, our tubes and tubs are not plastic.
They are bamboo and PHA based with no petroleum.
Safer for you, safer for the environment.
