Today we had the pleasure of discussing newave with Paul Turton on ABC Radio.
Listen on links above (4 December 2024) between 46:02 minutes & 53:25 minutes as we discuss newave.
We discuss how newave came to be, some of the difficulties in launching a start-up and how difficult it is to compete with huge cosmetic companies.
This interview is only a brief look into how our founders Tiffany and Hugh commenced and talks about our hope to help Save the Planet.
It is difficult to place into six or seven minutes how newave came to be and we skip over things quite quickly.
As an example, we talk about creating the formulations at home, yet not how the final products are tested and created by a professional cosmetic manufacturing company, who specialise in helping start-up reach the market.
After we went looking for a professional licensed manufacturer, we found most don’t deal with small start-ups, as our starting orders were far too low.
In fact, we went to ten companies and did not even get responses from eight of them. The other two said no due to low order amounts.
Having noted this, it was great to be in a recording studio and chat about newave. Really it was something we could have done for hours.
Support from interested people and in this case - ABC Radio helped place newave in front of people we may not reach
without large marketing budgets and we are certainly grateful for some exposure.
We know innovation is not easy, as is being one of the first to take a product to market that goes against plastic, which is used by almost
all cosmetic companies without a second thought.
At newave, we want you to have a choice.
To have a product that contains no petrolatum, mineral oil, paraffin oil etc – all those ingredients made from petroleum.
To also have a tube (and yes, our coming tubs for hand cream and body lotion) that is compostable and contains no petroleum. That will not leak chemicals into your products and then to you and that will not leach chemicals to the environment at end of life.
newave aims to Save the Planet and we hope to spread the word far and wide.
